One week before semifinalists are announced, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation Mark Andrews and Marquise Brown of the Oklahoma Sooners have been added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list. The award is given annually to college football’s most outstanding receiver regardless of position, and semifinalists will be announced Nov. 13.
Andrews, who is considered to be one of the best tight ends in the country, has 701 yards on 39 catches to go with four touchdowns through nine games in 2017. With Oklahoma playing on so many close games this season, Baker Mayfield has looked to Andrews in many a clutch situation. The Scottsdale native hasn’t disappointed.
Brown, on the other hand, has exploded onto the scene after starting the season as somewhat of a bit player. Brown didn’t get an offensive snap during Oklahoma’s Sept. 9 win in Columbus, but he now has 743 receiving yards and is averaging 19.6 yards per reception. It all started clicking for him on Oct. 14 against Texas, and he officially broke onto the national scene with his nine-catch, 265-yard performance against Oklahoma State. That performance — in which he broke the school record for receiving yards — included a number of huge plays, including this one in which he really shows off his wheels.
