After straddling the line between the fourth and fifth spots for several weeks, the Oklahoma Sooners moved up to No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings following a weekend of upsets. Clemson came in at No. 1 this week, while The Auburn Tigers moved all the way up to No. 2 after beating Alabama. Wisconsin, the only undefeated P5 team, rounded out the top four. The TCU Horned Frogs, who will face Oklahoma this Saturday at the Big 12 Championship in Arlington, sit at No. 11.

  • No. 12 Stanford vs. No. 10 USC - 7 p.m. CT (Friday)
  • No. 20 Memphis vs. No. 14 UCF - 11 a.m. CT
  • No. 11 TCU vs. No. 3 Oklahoma - 11:30 a.m. CT
  • No. 6 Georgia vs. No. 2 Auburn - 3 p.m. CT
  • No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 7 Miami - 7 p.m. CT
  • No. 4 Wisconsin vs. No. 8 Ohio State 7 p.m. CT

At this point, Oklahoma simply needs to take care of business. After that, it’s all a matter of where the Sooners are sent and who they’ll be matched up with in January. Will OU be the No. 1 overall seed? Will Oklahoma face another SEC team in a semifinal? Will Oklahoma head to New Orleans for the third time in five years or be sent to the Rose Bowl for the first time since the 2002 season? That’ll all depend on what happens in Charlotte, Indianapolis and Atlanta. If Miami, Georgia and Wisconsin win this weekend, I’m pretty confident in Oklahoma’s chances of winning the whole thing. In fact, I’m pretty confident regardless. This offense is churning right now. The defense is showing some life. These are exciting times.
