Alas, we’re finally at the end of an era…the last home game for the one and only Baker Mayfield. I’m not sure how to contain my emotions anymore. This has been a truly special ride, and we’re all so lucky to have lived through this snippet of college football glory.

Baker Mayfield’s last home game at the University of Oklahoma… it’s going to be spectacular.

The Oklahoma Sooners star, after an eventful week, will be on his usual center stage as OU tries to end the regular season in proper fashion against the West Virginia Mountaineers. I don’t want to get into the suspension, or anything, that could take away from this day, for that matter. We are so fortunate as Sooners, alumni and fans alike, to have seen so many stars and legends come through our stomping grounds — none more special than the front-runner for the 2017 Heisman Trophy.

Yes, the Baker Mayfield is wrapping up his spectacular career (at least at home) as an Oklahoma Sooner, and I am super bummed.

I’m bummed that time moves so fast when you’re having a good time. I’m bummed that good things must come to an end. I’m bummed that nothing good lasts forever.

But, at least, it’s not all over yet… one more win and a chance at a third straight Big 12 Championship awaits Oklahoma. Two more wins and a place in the College Football Playoff awaits.

Three more wins…and immortality begins knocking, FOUR MORE WINS…

Immortality happens.

Let’s go get it, Bake. Embrace immortality.

No one can hold you back, no one can stop you. We, the Sooner Nation, are thankful that you wanted to ever be a part of us.

You are the new standard by which college football excellence is measured.

We are the Oklahoma Sooners. As another prominent personality in the area says, “WHY NOT?!” Happy Senior Day, Baker Mayfield.

Thank you for everything.
