Oklahoma Sooners Football: College Football TV Schedule & Gambling Picks - Week 13

With Will Grier out with a broken finger, Oklahoma is favored by 22.5. Will they cover?

Happy Friday after Thanksgiving, y’all! I hope you eat plenty of leftovers and take multiple naps while watching some okay football today. Speaking of which, conference realignment has seriously ruing football on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We used to have Nebraska vs. Colorado in the years leading up to the breakup, which was fun even when the matchup wasn’t that great. Arkansas and LSU would often play for the Golden Boot on the Friday before, but folks out there are now trying to make Arkansas-Missouri a thing, which is just stupid. Texas and Texas A&M were playing Thursday games when the rivalry was reaching its end, but that one was sometimes played on Friday, as well.

Anyway, enough about the past. This is still a great weekend of college football and the final regular-season weekend of 2017. Cherish it! Also, we get to watch Baker Mayfield take the field in Norman one last time for the Oklahoma Sooners. Cherish that even more!

Here’s how I think things will shake out:

Baylor at TCU (-24.5) - Okay, so we have no idea at this point as to who will be TCU’s starting QB this week. Patterson has said the Hill is closer to probable this week but that Shawn Robinson is now questionable. Despite all of this (as well as the absence of Darius Anderson), Baylor’s defense is abysmal. TCU’s defense, which has also dealt with injury issues, is still perfectly capable of shutting down a Baylor offense that has been decent but not great since the insertion of Charlie Brewer into the starting lineup. Gambling pick: TCU covers regardless of who’s out there at QB. Over 51.5. UPDATE: Kenny Hill will start today.

Texas Tech at Texas (-10) - The vulnerability of the Texas secondary was sort of masked last week when Will Grier went out with a broken finger. The suspension of Holton Hill earlier this month definitely hurts the Longhorns in that area, but will Nic Shimonek be able to take advantage? He’s been a erratic in the latter portion of conference play. Gambling pick: Texas effectively pressures Shimonek, creates some turnovers and covers at home. Under 55

Florida State (-5) at Florida - Florida State has a bit more talent and a slightly better quarterback situation. Additionally, they actually have something to play for after rescheduling their game against Louisiana-Monroe for next weekend. FSU can actually make a bowl! Gambling pick: Florida State covers in “The Swamp”. Under 43.5

Georgia (-11) at Georgia Tech - This game’s usually really close and there’s a good chance that UGA is looking ahead to Alabama or Auburn. It’s true that GT has been wildly inconsistent this year and actually lost to Duke by a good amount last week, but that spread option is always capable of at least keeping things interesting — even against far superior athleticism. Gambling pick: Georgia Tech beats the spread, but UGA gets the W and keeps its CFP hopes alive. Under 51

Ohio State (-12) at Michigan - Michigan is really bad, and the new quarterback who was starting to change that — Brandon Peters — is in concussion protocol after being knocked unconscious by Wisconsin. However, he could be back for this one. Would it even matter, though? Gambling pick: Ohio State covers and sets up a matchup with Wisconsin for a potential CFP berth. Under 50

Alabama (-4.5) at Auburn - Yes, Auburn has hit its stride and is facing an Alabama squad that has a depleted defense. They’re also playing this one at Auburn. Despite being ranked No. 1 by the committee, they’ve sort of been overlooked throughout this whole thing. I think they’ll end up using that as motivation. Gambling pick: Alabama wins an instant classic by a touchdown and covers. Over 47

Iowa State at Kansas State (-2.5) - Kansas State lit up Oklahoma State for a good portion of last Saturday’s game in Stillwater, but Iowa State’s defense isn’t the type to let that kind of thing happen, especially against Kansas State. Gambling pick: Iowa State wins as an underdog. Under 49.5

West Virginia at Oklahoma (-22.5) - Will Grier new replacement, Chris Chugunov, struggled with accuracy against Texas. On top of that, this OU team and crowd are going to be fired up by everything surrounding Baker Mayfield, and I’d expect that to carry over to the defense. Gambling pick: Oklahoma covers in an impressive showing. Over 68

Clemson (-13.5) at South Carolina - Clemson’s clearly better than the second-best SEC East team, but they’re on the road in a rivalry game against an 8-3 squad. South Carolina nearly pulled off an upset two years ago when they last played in Columbia. I’d expect another close one. Gambling pick: South Carolina beats the spread but falls short. Over 46.5

Washington State at Washington (-10.5) - Both of these teams struggled against a 5-6 Utah team in their most recent games (WSU had a bye last week). Washington is a bit more balanced offensively and has a slightly better defense, so they sort of have the edge on paper. However, Jake Browning has been very underwhelming this season. Gambling pick: Washington State beats the spread and actually gets the W in a thriller. Over 48
