Oklahoma Sooners basketball: Sooners roll to 108-89 victory over Nebraska Omaha

Trae Young knotched a double-double in his first collegiate game

Trae Young’s debut in an Oklahoma Sooners uniform went about as well as anyone could have hoped for. The freshman phenom went for 15 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds to help OU cruise to a 108-89 victory over the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks.

Young wasn’t the only freshman putting on a show Sunday as forwars Brady Manek added 11 points and 6 rebounds of his own. Six Sooners, Young, Manek, Christian James, Matt Freeman, Jamuni McNeace and Jordan Shepard, finished with double-digit scoring totals. The balanced attack was more than enough to overcome a hot shooting night for UNO, who made 12 of its 22 three-pointers.

Young’s stellar play coupled with a great all-around team performance seems to validate the high expectations that many have placed on this team entering the season. OU will play another sharpshooting team in Ball State on Wednesday in Norman before traveling to Portland for the inaugural PK80 Tournament on November 23.
