Oklahoma Sooners Football - Sooners in the NFL: Joe Mixon’s big play helps Bengals in win over Colts

Unfortunately, Trent Williams continues to experience issues with his knee.

It was a quiet Week 8 in the NFL with many of your Oklahoma Sooners on byes. While no former stars found the end zone, Bengals running back Joe Mixon finished with 11 carries for 18 yards in a 24-23 win over the Colts but more importantly caught three passes for 91 yards, with most of them coming on this 67-yard dash that almost found the end zone.

There also may be some beef building between the former Sooner star and one of the NFL’s best in Steelers rusher Le’Veon Bell. After last week’s loss against Pittsburgh, Mixon aired out his frustrations over his lack of touches by comparing himself to the Steelers’ star.

It has not played out too well. Le’Veon clapped back.

As Adam Stites of SB Nation points out in this article, Joe has, indeed, seemingly begun adopting Bell’s first down celebration as well as his style. Hmm...

And as if this couldn’t get any better, Mixon’s teammate — the always classy Vontaze Burfict — has now weighed in, too.

Oh boy. Nothing could go wrong here.

Now, on to other Sooners.

Dolphins wideout Kenny Stills caught five passes on 10 targets for 65 yards on Thursday night’s miserable shutout loss at Baltimore. Ravens starting safety Tony Jefferson recorded three tackles and a couple of quarterback hits in the big 40-0 win.

The Buccaneers defensive duo of Gerald McCoy and Devante Bond produced 2 tackles and 1 tackle, respectively, in a loss to the Panthers.

Stacy McGee recorded one tackle in Washington’s loss against the Cowboys. Washington’s All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams didn’t play due to a knee injury that’s beginning to grow more worrisome as the season wears on. Big Trent is hoping to hold off on having surgery until after the season, but things seem to be wearing on the NFL’s best left tackle.

Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post gave us a more detailed perspective from the former Sooner star:

Ugh. Get well, big fella.
