The Oklahoma staff had plenty of 2018 recruits in town for this weekend, and I’m sure they were eager to show off some of the hardware. However, things went awry on Saturday afternoon.
Bad News: The Big 12 Championship Trophy was broken today.

Good News: We have 9 others.#BoomerSooner pic.twitter.com/TeXnur0RTn
As offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley indicated in his tweet, this isn’t exactly a huge loss for Oklahoma. The Sooners have won 10 Big 12 championship trophies since the Big 12’s inception, and winning the conference isn’t exactly a monumental accomplishment at this point.
On the other hand, I do feel really bad for the guy who broke the trophy, a sentiment which was echoed by our own Graham Dudley this afternoon.
i feel bad for whoever this hapless employee happens to be https://t.co/4aTBFoIzlZ

I have a sneaking suspicion that this was the work of the Jerry Gergich of the athletic department. At least that’s what I’d like to think!
