Kerry Cooks has just landed another gem with the 19th four-star prospect and 27th commit to #SoonerSquad17 in athlete Ryan Jones. Originally offered by Oklahoma in July 2015, Jones was regarded as one of the best receivers in North Carolina. But he also excelled at defensive back in high school and it appears with Kerry Cooks being the main connection in securing his commitment, he’ll likely also line up at safety or corner from the get-go.
After visiting Jones last week, the OU staff is hosting his official visit to Norman this weekend, where he wasted little time to make the jump.

The 6’2”, 219 lb., athlete shows consistent ability to high-point the ball and has been very good in jump-ball situations, whether at wideout or in the secondary. His size would also allow him to match up well with big receivers and given his experience on both sides of the ball, could really be a high-IQ playmaker in the secondary.
Jones, who decommited last September from North Carolina, also held offers from Tennessee, Marshall, Louisville, NC State, Wisconsin and West Virginia. I can’t help but envision a possible second coming of Andre Woolfolk...Boomer!
