After decommitting from Arkansas on Friday, the Baton Rouge defensive end is now an OU commit.

Just one day after his decommitment from Arkansas, Baton Rouge, La., defensive end Troy James has committed to Oklahoma. James was on a visit to Norman this week, and he clearly came away impressed.

James is rated as the three-star prospect by most recruiting services. However, the guy has a ton of upside. Standing at 6-4 and weighing 275 pounds, he already has the body to be a P5 defensive end in both a 3-4 and a 4-3. I can’t imagine how scary this guy is going to be after Jerry Schmidt does some work with him.

James’ commitment brings OU’s total to 26 for the 2017 class, and he’s OU’s second commitment from the state of Louisiana. The latter illustrates a trend that should make any OU fan happy, as that state is know for producing talent at an incredibly high rate. Yes, it helps OU in the short term, but it also helps to strengthen Oklahoma’s pipeline in the state.
