Former Sooners’ point guard Isaiah Cousins just signed a partially guaranteed, one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to league sources, earlier today.

The Kings’ 59th pick from this past June’s draft will compete for the last remaining roster spot with Ty Lawson and Lamar Patterson, but most likely could be sent to the team’s NBA D-League affiliate Reno Bighorns. Despite some bumps after being hampered by a groin injury at the start of the Summer League, Cousins worked his way onto the floor to make some plays and continue to earn his chances at making an NBA roster.
NBA veteran Ty Lawson appears to be the most likely candidate for the final spot, but with time in the D-League or elsewhere, Cousins has the skill set to eventually develop into a solid NBA point guard. With great size, handles and unselfishness, Sooner fans hope to see him stay healthy and land on a roster with some playing time somewhere, whether it be in Sacramento…or maybe closer.
