Oklahoma Sooners Football: Week 5 College Football Viewing Guide (Plus Gambling Advice)

Will my picks be better than last week’s? They better be!

Football time is back, Sooner fans! Are you nervous and excited about tomorrow’s game and kind of dreading it at the same time? Me too! Make sure to hop on here during the game and participate in the board. It should be a filled with emotion (hopefully more joy than sadness), and it’s a perfect place to vent about coaches or No. 2 corners.

Anyway, Here’s this week’s slate of games, along with my gambling picks. Last week was rough as far as the picking was concerned. Let’s hope this week is better.

Oklahoma (-3.5) at TCU - OU chances all depend on adjustments made over the bye week, and I’m not overly confident about it. And why would I be? Mike Stoops has a reputation for being stubborn. I’m more confident in Lincoln Riley’s ability to adjust, as he demonstrated the ability last season. I’m hopeful that Mike gets something right this week, and I’m taking the Sooners. Gambling pick: Sooners cover. OU finally gets some stops on third down.

Stanford at Washington (-3.5) - Stanford’s defense has been great for the past year and a half, but I just don’t bet against David Shaw. I thought there would be a dropoff after Harbaugh left, but Shaw has made Stanford better and has turned them into the kings of the Pacific. McCaffrey has himself some Heisman moments in one of his rare opportunities to be in the limelight this year. Gambling pick: Stanford wins straight up.

Texas at Oklahoma State (-2.5) - Mason Rudolf and James Washington are quite a combo, and Texas’ secondary was exposed against Cal. However, OSU’s run game is absolutely awful, and Texas hasn’t lost in Stillwater since 1997. Gambling pick: Texas straight up. I wish I could pick against both. Maybe a flood will happen and the game will get cancelled.

Wisconsin at Michigan (-10.5) - Wisconsin is an admirable team. There’s not a ton of talent, but they just get things done. However, I’m reluctantly taking Harbaugh to win this one, but it’ll be close. Gambling pick: Wisky loses but beats the spread.

Louisville (-2) at Clemson - This is a tough one. I don’t believe Lamar Jackson’s Heisman campaign is derailed this week, but I think Brent Venables can find a way to contain him. He’ll throw for 250-plus and run for 100-plus, but Clemson’s D will make some big plays. Gambling pick: Clemson straight up.
