Oklahoma Sooners Football: OU/Texas Will Kick Off at 11... Again

Oklahoma will have a morning kickoff against Texas

Well, this is always one of my least favorite days of the year - the day in which it is announced that the Red River Shootout (yeah, I said it) will be played at 11 a.m.

That’s just great! If you’d like to be inebriated at the game, you have two options:

  1. Stay awake all night by whatever method you so chose and keep the party going through the end of the game.
  2. Wake up at 7 a.m. feeling like death and pound as many eight, ten or twelve (I don’t remember) ticket Dixie Cups as you can, or sneak booze into the fair (which can be trickier than you think).

For a 2:30 game, you can pace yourself a little bit. Not that you necessarily would, but you’d have that option. Also, you have the option of sleeping off your hangover that morning. The “Red River Flu” has ruined many an OU/Texas weekend, and a 2:30 game would mitigate that a bit.

Many of us would love to see this game played at night, but I don’t think it’ll happen any time soon. It may turn out to be an absolute disaster, but it needs to be tried at least once. Wouldn’t it be fun? When Joe C retires and names me his successor, it’ll happen. MARK. IT. DOWN.
