Lon Kruger’s squad received some interesting news regarding future scheduling on Wednesday, as OU has been selected to compete in the PK80 - Phil Knight Invitational for the 2017-18 season. The event will take place at the Moda Center (formerly the Rose Garden) and Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland Nov. 23-26 of 2017.
OU was selected for the 16-team event, which is an 80th birthday celebration for Nike co-founder and Oregon sugar daddy Phil Knight. Along with the Sooners, the field will consist of Arkansas, Butler, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas.
Unfortunately, the tournament will consist of two eight-team brackets, so there’s a chance that OU and Texas will be put into separate brackets. Regardless, this will serve as a great resume builder for the 2017-18 squad. That team will likely be pretty stacked considering that Jordan Woodard is the only scholarship senior this season.
