Oklahoma defensive tackle Marquise Overton will miss the remainder of the 2016 season with a foot injury, according to the university. He sustained a sprained foot against Louisiana-Monroe and has undergone season-ending surgery.

Overton, a sophomore out of Jenks HS in the Tulsa area, was a four-star prospect in the 247 Composite rankings for the 2015 recruiting cycle. Since the surgery occurred after only the second game of the season, Overton is eligible for a medical redshirt.
The young DT wasn’t on the depth chart and did not record any statistics this season, but it’s still a big blow to someone who was hoping to crack the rotation and develop as a sophomore.
