We’re 29 days away from the opener against the Houston Cougars, and today we’ll take a moment to remember former OU back Chris Brown.
Brown can best be described as a very solid back. He didn’t have a lot of speed and he couldn’t juke a player out of his shoes, but he was a strong runner with good vision and balance. After Adrian Peterson’s collarbone injury in 2006, Brown was taken out of redshirt and contributed immediately. He finished his career at OU just shy of the 3,000-yard mark but was often overshadowed by other backs despite his production.
Brown rushed for 1,220 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2008’s record-breaking offense, as he and DeMarco Murray both ran for over 1,000 that year. He’s been one of many who have come out of “The Boot” to come play for Bob Stoops, a trend that needs to continue for a long, long time.
