UPDATE** Xavier Newman tweeted that he is not going to be in Norman.

Assuming he makes it to the huge BBQ today in Norman, it would come as no shock for the Sooners to land 2017 3-Star OL Xavier Newman 6-4/285 from Desoto, TX. Newman chose the Longhorns originally over offers from ASU, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa State, KSU, Minnesota, Miss. St., Mizzou, North Carolina, Texas A&M, TTech, and Tulsa.

However the Sooners turned up the interest with a recent offer and Newman himself is quoted as saying that he is more interested in the Sooners than the Longhorns in spite of being "committed" to the Longhorns (I use that term lightly in this instance).

Newman has not only been recruited hard by OL Coach Bill Bedenbaugh, but also by a number of the Sooners class of 2017.

The only question mark really is whether Newman will in fact make the visit. We are operating under the assumption that he will and that would all but seemingly lock up his switch to the Sooners. We will have more as this develops over the weekend.
