The Colorado Buffaloes took an exit from the Big 12 Conference following the 2010 season. Having shared a conference with the Sooners for decades (since 1950), Oklahoma and CU parted ways with OU owning a 40-17-2 overall record. The two teams met twice in Big 12 championship games with the Sooners taking both contests, in Houston 2002 and Kansas City 2004.
The last time OU played the Buffaloes was on October 30, 2010, in Norman. The Sooners entered the game ranked 11th in the nation and Colorado
was unranked. The game very much looked the part of a conference title contender vs. a cellar dweller as Oklahoma pulverized the Buffaloes by a final score of 43-10.
It was a day where records fell in Norman with Landry Jones and Drew Allen combining to produce the best passing day in school history. Jones had 453 passing yards and Allen contributed another 35 to break the previous record of 468 against Kansas during the 2008 season.
Perhaps the biggest accolade of the day belonged to Ryan Broyles who set a new career-high and school record with a grand total of 208 receiving yards. Broyles also hauled in three of Landry Jones' four touchdown passes.
