2016 Oklahoma Sooners Football Countdown To Kickoff | 48 Days!

The Oklahoma Sooners opened up their 2014 season with a 48-16 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. OU dominated the first half by building a 31-0 lead before the Bulldogs kicked a field goal to end the first half.

The key story in this game was Oklahoma's defense holding current Baltimore Ravens running back Kenneth Dixon to just 42 total yards and 2.6 yards per carry. Dixon would go on to rush for a career-high 1,299 yards and 22 touchdowns during the season, with an average of 5.1 yards per carry.

A total of eight different Oklahoma football players recorded tackles behind the line of scrimmage in the game as the Bulldogs managed just 15 total first downs and 245 total yards of offense. On the other hand, Oklahoma's offense produced 436 total yards of offense and 26 first down. Running backs Keith Ford and Alex Ross scored twice to lead OU's offensive charge.
