The Oklahoma Sooners received twenty-four of twenty-six possible first place votes to become the clear preseason favorites to win the Big 12 Conference in 2016. Led by quarterback Baker Mayfield, running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon, along with receivers Mark Andrews and Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma's offense is expected to be one of the most potent scoring units in the country this fall.

The linebacker position will be the key to Oklahoma's success on the defensive side of the ball in 2016. The Sooners return several key players along the defensive line and will have one of the best secondaries in the country but they will also feature youth and inexperience at the linebacker position.
