Oklahoma Sooners Basketball | Akolda Manyang Dismissed After Altercation In Minnesota

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

With Ryan Spangler graduating, the Oklahoma Sooners needed to sustain a bit of depth in the post looking forward. Unfortunately, the program took another hit as 7-footer Akolda Manyang was dismissed from the team.

Originally reported by the Post-Bulletin, Manyang and Tadros Deng were arrested around 3 AM by the Rochester Police Department accused of assaulting a cab driver and stealing the keys to the driver's personal car.

Capt. John Sherwin said the two men were "drunk and belligerent and didn't know the address" where they wanted to be dropped off at 2:20 a.m. When the cab driver ordered them out of his vehicle, the two men smashed the driver's clipboard on the ground, assaulted the driver and chased him around the parking lot before he found safety in a hotel lobby and the two suspects attempted to flee before being arrested.

This incident comes on the heels of another roughly a month ago. On May 1st, the center found himself with an indefinite suspension after allegedly punching a former student-athlete. Charged with aggravated assault and battery, Manyang picked up the first felony then.

As of 10:45 AM on Thursday, official charges against Manyang and Deng have not been filed.
