On November 7th, 2015 the Oklahoma Sooners dismantled Iowa State to the tune of 52-16. OU jumped out to a 21-point first quarter and, after failing to score in the second, posted 17 points in the third and 14 in the fourth to bury the Cyclones.
Freshman running back Joe Mixon rushed for a total of 88 yards, on just eight carries, with an average of 11 yards per carry. The bulk of those yards came for Mixon on just one play. He took a hand-off early in the fourth quarter and darted 57 yards for a touchdown. It was a play that undoubtedly broke any will Iowa State had left.
As a team the Sooners rushed for a total of 279 yards on the day, with an average of 7.2 yards per carry. Quarterback Baker Mayfield and running back Samaje Perine joined Mixon in the box score with rushing touchdowns.
