On the heels of Oklahoma and Alabama's pitcher's duel, Michigan's Megan Betsa proved that she's got a golden arm as well. The second seeded Wolverines moved on to the winner's bracket with a 2-0 win over LSU in Friday's night-cap thanks to a sixth inning double by Tera Blanco.
The two teams posted nothing but zeros on the board through the first five and a half frames but Michigan struck a fatal blow in the bottom of the sixth. With the first three batters reaching base to lead off for the Wolverines, Blanco sent the ball into right field for a double that scored Sierra Romero and Kelly Christner.
Besta made sure that was all of the offense that Michigan would need by holding the Tigers to just four hits on the night and striking out eight of the twenty-seven batters that she had faced on the night.
Michigan will play Oklahoma in the nightcap on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled around 8:30 and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
