2016 Oklahoma Sooners Football Countdown To Kickoff | 92 Days!

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

At 6-0/298, redshirt junior Matthew Romar is the next in line of the defensive linemen we've previewed in our countdown. After appearing in twelve games during the 2014 season, Romar started twelve of Oklahoma's thirteen games in 2015, missing the Kansas State game due to injury.

Romar has a career total of 33 tackles (2.5 for loss) and two sacks. He was a consensus 3-star recruit (According to Rivals, ESPN, & 247Sports) coming out of Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas. Heavily recruited as a top 50 defensive tackle, and the 91st rated recruit in the state of Texas, Romar had offers from Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas Tech to go along with his scholarship from Oklahoma.

He set a career high with seven tackles at the Cotton Bowl against the Texas Longhorns last October.
