Back in 2014, running back Alex Ross earned the first start of his career in an Oklahoma Sooners jersey on August 30th against Louisiana Tech. During the outing, the then redshirt sophomore tallied 36 rushing yards while recording two touchdowns. However, it was during this game that Ross proved invaluable in the return game.
Up 41-10 in the fourth quarter, the Sooners prepared to receive the kickoff from Louisiana Tech. Catching the ball near the five yard line, Ross took off up the hash mark. Shedding a would-be-tackler, the electric return man found a bit of room to run. The display of speed brought the crowd to their feet as a race to the end zone ensued.
Without any cutback room, Ross made it to the 15 yard line before being brought down. The 80-yard return was the first of his career setting up the things to come.
Thanks for the memories!
