Oklahoma Softball Wins Fifth Consecutive Big 12 Title With Sweep Of Texas Tech

Rich DeCray SBN

Once again the Big 12 Conference belongs to Oklahoma softball. After sweeping their series against Texas Tech, by a combined score of 22-1, the Sooners had earned a share of the conference crown on Saturday and then won it outright on Sunday.

Oklahoma's series featured two 5-inning run-rule games (8-0 Friday, 10-1 Sunday) with a 4-0 Saturday win sandwiched in the middle. The #7 Sooners have now won twenty consecutive games and have two tilts against Oklahoma State remaining on their schedule.

It's the fifth consecutive conference championship for Oklahoma's softball program. No other school in the conference has won more than two consecutive. The Sooners now have a total of nine regular season conference titles to go along with four Big 12 Tournament championships.

The current 20-game winning streak is the fourth longest streak in program history and longest winning streak since 2007 when they won 23 games in a row.
