Oklahoma Baseball Takes Series Against Kansas State With 12-0 Shutout

Oklahoma won, Texas lost and the weekend went well for Oklahoma baseball. After dropping their series opener to Kansas State, on Friday night, the Sooners were able to even things up on Saturday and then take the series in convincing fashion with a 12-0 blowout/run-rule in seven innings.

Junior Alec Hansen made his first start since the Sooners were in Lubbock, Texas the final weekend of March. He held the Wildcats to just two hits and no runs, while also striking out 9 of the 21 battters he faced. Keaton Hernandez came in to finish off Kansas Sate in the seventh and completed the shutout win.

Oklahoma got things rolling in the second with a tally of five runs scored and then posted four more in the third to put the Wildcats behind the 8-ball. The Sooners finished off their scoring with a three-run sixth to put the run-rule in play.

Austin O'Brien went 3-for-3 from the plate, with three runs scored, and Cody Thomas was 3-of-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Texas lost 9-5, to West Virginia, allowing Oklahoma to jump them and take the fifth place spot in the conference standings.
