Sheldon Neuse missed the final two regular season games after hitting his head on the ground in the series opener against Austin Peay. Yet, the body of work the shortstop put together remained impressive. Behind .376 batting average, .672 slug percentage, .464 on-base percentage, Neuse claimed a third consecutive consensus Big XII First Team Selection. To go along with those numbers, the junior collected 10 home runs and 46 runs batted in.
However, Neuse impacts the game in more than one way. Often times, the Oklahoma Sooners have called Neuse to the mound to close out a game. Without hesitation, the junior shortstop toed the rubber earning a 4-1 record with nine saves. During his time on the bump, Neuse struck out 19 batters while recording a team best 1.40 ERA.
That leaves us asking one simple question: Is there anything Sheldon Neuse can not do? The Oklahoma Sooners will depend on Neuse during Big XII Tournament play. He could be the key to earning a spot in the NCAA field.
