Wichita State barely had time to breathe before the Sooners had posted 14 runs on the board. After plating three runs in the first inning, Oklahoma sent twelve batters to the plate, and scored eight of them, to blow the game wide open and allow Pete Hughes young squad to coast with an 11-0 lead.
Former OU quarterback Cody Thomas blasted his third home run of the season to lead off the fourth and was followed up by RBI base hits from Steele Walker and Jack Flansburg to push their lead to 14-0 in front of Wichita State's home crowd at Eck Stadium.
Oklahoma's final run of the evening came in the top of the sixth and as their offensive production was boosted again by Hunter Haley. The reigning National Player of the Week swatted two doubles and ended the evening with a 3-for-5 performance from the plate with five RBI.
Freshman hurler Jake Irvin only pitched three innings but was able to secure his second win in the last two weeks. The Sooners have now won seven of their last nine games and have improved their season record to 15-7-1. They will be playing on the road at TCU this weekend in a three-game series that begins with a nationally televised game Friday night on FS1.
