Buddy Hield Passes "Choo" Kennedy On Oklahoma Sooners All-Time Scoring List

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

During the month of February, Buddy Hield solidified himself as one of the top five scorers ever to play at the University of Oklahoma passing Stacey King. However, with several games still to be played the possibility of moving up the list remained.

Entering Tuesday's contest against the Baylor Bears which coincided with Senior Night, former Oklahoma Sooner Darryl "Choo" Kennedy (2,097 career points) held a 21 point lead over the current star, Hield. Starting quick, the senior guard knocked down a few shots recording 13 points in the first eight minutes of play. Yet, Hield sputtered in the second half. With 17 seconds remaining in regulation, Hield stepped up to the free throw line hitting two consecutive free throws for points number 22 and 23 effectively moving ahead of Choo.

It wasn't the only record book Hield rewrote on Tuesday though. Connecting on four three pointers, Hield broke a single season conference record with his 121st made three-pointer. The mark dethroned the Texas Longhorns' A.J Abrams, With the way the game is trending, the only question is how long will the record stand?
