We aren't even 24 hours removed from the class of 2016 and already the focus has shifted to 2017. The Sooners are off to an incredible start, as they have already secured 5 commitments (all but one from the state of Texas) that have a 4-Star ranking. I look for the class of 2017 to have somewhere around 23 commitments before its all said and done. So who might be on that list. Lets take a look.
Current Commits - 5
4-Star QB Chris Robison 6-1/185 Mesquite, TX
4-Star WR Cedarian Lamb 6-3/170 Richmond, TX
4-Star OL Tryrese Robinson 6-5/300 McKinney, TX
4-Star LB Levi Draper 6-2/215 Collinsville, OK
4-Star DB Robert Barnes 6-3/190 Southlake, TX
Before we go any further, let me just say that this is an incredible start. While the Sooners will definitely have a fight on their hands to keep Tyrese Robinson, this group sets a foundation and gives the Sooners a ton of momentum moving forward
Targets
This list will be players that I believe the Sooners have a realistic shot at. I will not include a group of national players that offer lists from all over, as I don't believe that they are realistic targets for the Sooners going forward.
5-Star DB Jeffrey Okudah 6-1/195 Grand Prairie, TX
Okudah is SO good. His offer list is extensive, and I believe that the Sooners have a really good chance. They will have a fight on their hands with Ohio State and Baylor
5-Star DL Marvin Wilson 6-4/320 Houston, TX
Wilson is a generational talent from the Houston area. He is the #1 overall recruit in the nation. As of today it will be hard to beat LSU, but I believe without a doubt the Sooners have a really good chance.
4-Star DL Haskell Garrett 6-2/275 Las Vegas, NV
The Sooners will have some stiff competition for Garrett, but Bishop Gorman High School has been very kind to them.
4-Star LB Baron Browning 6-4/230 Kennedale, TX (Baylor Commit)
Browning is a perfect fit for what the Sooners do at outside linebacker. Even though he is a Baylor commit, the interest is OU is definitely growing.
4-Star LB Anthony Hines 6-3/220 Plano, TX
If you could call any team a leader at this point, it would the Sooners. I think the Bears could make this interesting, but it wouldn't shock me for him to be an early Sooner commit.
4-Star OL Grayson Reed 6-5/280 Cypress Creek, TX
The Sooners were in on Reed early, but beating out Texas and A&M will probably be difficult.
4-Star WR Charleston Rambo 6-1/170 Cedar Hill, TX
Rambo is thought to be a heavy Sooner lean at this point. If he makes it back for the next Junior Day or Spring Game, I could see him pulling the trigger for the Sooners.
4-Star WR Omar Manning 6-3/200 Lancaster, TX
Manning will probably be A&M's to lose, but with any recruit that is leaning to Texas or Texas A&M is definitely on the table with the uncertainty surrounding both Sumlin and Strong.
4-Star Running Back JK Dobbins 5-10/200 La Grange, TX
Dobbins should be an OU/UT battle and its a battle I believe the Sooners can win.
4-Star DB Tre Brown 5-11/170 Tulsa, OK
Brown stars for Tulsa Union High School. He doesn't have an OU offer yet, but I would expect he will eventually get one. This is a battle the Sooners can win, assuming they don't wait too long to offer.
4-Star DB Chevin Calloway 5-10/180 Dallas, TX
Calloway is quite possibly locked into Baylor, but the Sooners are definitely in the mix.
3-Star ATH Paulson Adebo 6-1/75 Mansfield, TX
I think Adebo could excel either DB or WR. I also think the Sooners have a really good shot at him
3-Star WR Tylan Wallace 6-1/170 Fort Worth, TX
Tylan's recruitment may be directly tied to his twin brother, who was injured last season. It might get tricky for OU if both desire to play together at the next level.
3-Star OL Edward Ingram 6-3/3215 Desoto, TX
No OU offer as of yet, but I would expect him to get one soon.
3-Star OL Adrian Wolford 6-5/300 Meeker, OK
Wolford is an instate mauler, who I think has elite interior offensive line potential. He doesn't have an OU offer, but I expect it to happen at some point. Wolford is a really good player.
3-Star OL Larry Boyd 6-5/320 from St. Louis, MO
Boyd doesn't have an OU offer yet, but the Sooners have definite interest.
3-Star OL Hyrin White 6-6/275 Desoto, TX
No OU offer for white as of yet, but his recruitment is taking off
OL Jared Hocker 6-5/290 Richland Hills, TX (Kansas Commit)
Hocker is in a similar situation to Boyd and White although he will probably have to wait longer for a Sooner offer, but it wouldn't shock me to see him pick one up eventually.
LB Riko Jeffers 6-1/230 Sachse, TX
Riko doesn't have an OU offer yet, but I think he gets one in time.
___________________________________
While this list is nowhere complete, I believe that as of today the Sooners would be betting favorites for
Charleston Rambo, Anthony Hines, Tre Brown, Paulson Adebo, Tylan Wallace, and Adrian Wolford,
I believe they have a realistic shot at:
Marvin Wilson, Jeffrey Okudah, Omar and Baron Browing
I also firmly believe that the Sooners 2017 class truly has the chance to be special.
