Initially thought to make the journey to Eugene, Oregon by 247Sports to play for the Oregon Ducks, Bryce Youngquist shocked more than a few experts by choosing the Oklahoma Sooners on July 31st of 2015. Granted, Youngquist labeled the Ducks as his frontrunner before taking an official visit to Norman, Oklahoma.
The outside linebacker prospect hails from Rancho Cucamonga, California standing 6-2 as a 4-start recruit and appeared set to sign with the Sooners on National Signing Day. However, the situation (reported by Jason Kersey of NewsOK) appears to have changed as Youngquist tweeted out this statement on Monday.
Clearly, Youngquist will not sign on Wednesday due to personal reasons but remains a hard Oklahoma commit. Carey Murdock spent time seeking answers to the situation but has simply stated there are "bigger obstacles ahead than depth charts. [The] family [is] not ready to talk details yet." We here at CCM wish him the best as the youngster deals with these personal issues.
