Oklahoma Sooners Football: Sooners in the NFL – Rip Goes Beast Mode, Sammy B Falls Short

Fullback Aaron Ripkowski scored his second touchdown in as many games, while Sam Bradford should’ve had another play in Week 13.

Whether it affected his throw or not, Sam Bradford and the Vikings got screwed in last Thursday’s loss against the Cowboys. Bradford was his usual self — sharp, unspectacular, under pressure for most of the night — and finished a respectable 32-of-45 for 247 yards, a touchdown and zero interceptions. But the Vikings failed to convert on fourth and goal after yet another Minnesota penalty and a Bradford overthrow in the end zone on the last play of the game. The loss dropped the Vikes to 6-6 on the season as they look to rebound in Jacksonville next week.

Bradford’s NFC North rival Aaron Ripkowski found the end zone for the second-straight week for the Packers and continues to tear up defenses in his limited but fruitful short-yardage and goal line opportunities. Rip finished with 3 carries for 14 yards and the score and added a catch for 4 yards in the snowy-day win against the Texans. The versatile fullback has emerged as a much-needed skill player in a depleted Green Bay backfield and appears to be an increasingly integral part of Mike McCarthy’s offense in a tight divisional race down the stretch.

Rip for a beastly six!

Linebacker Corey Nelson grabbed 4 tackles in a Broncos win in Jacksonville. Nelson’s former Sooner teammate Aaron Colvin registered 1 tackle on the other side for the Jaguars and caught up with his old friend after the game.

Jermaine Gresham caught 5 passes for 52 yards in a Cardinals home win against Washington. Tony Jefferson recorded a team-high 7 tackles and defended 1 pass for the Arizona defense.

Gerald McCoy registered a tackle and a sack in the Bucs road win in San Diego.

Sterling Shepard caught 4 passes for 21 yards and a late touchdown, his sixth of the season, in the Giants loss in Pittsburgh.

Kenny Stills had 2 receptions for 21 yards, while Damien Williams rushed once for a yard and caught 2 passes for 8 yards in a Dolphins blowout loss in Baltimore, which broke Miami’s six-game win streak. Jordan Phillips added 1 tackle for the ‘Fins defense.
