Week 2 Bowl Predictions, Live Stream & TV Schedule

We have eight bowl games on the schedule this week

Happy Monday, Sooner fans! I hope your weekend was better than mine was. I came down with a cold on Friday (which is getting worse) and watched my Chiefs blow it in horrible fashion yesterday. Anyway, we have eight (mostly sub-par) bowl games ahead of us before Christmas, and I’ve tried my best to predict the outcome of each of them:

Miami Beach Bowl: Central Michigan vs. Tulsa - As I’m sure you all recall, the Chippewas are the guys who hilariously beat OSU on an incredible Hail Mary that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Cowboy fans will be rooting pretty hard for TU, but so will the rest of the state. After all, Tulsa is every Oklahoman’s second-favorite team. Pick: The Golden Hurricane takes this one, and I’m using 18 confidence points in our Yahoo Bowl Pick’em.

Boca Raton Bowl: Memphis vs. Western Kentucky - Jeff Brohm, who was an outstanding coach for the Hilltoppers in recent years, has taken the head coaching job at Purdue. This is considered one of the best new hires for a reason, and WKU is going to miss him dearly. Pick: Memphis beats Western Kentucky, but I’m using only three confidence points.

Poinsettia Bowl: BYU vs. Wyoming - This is possibly the best bowl on the slate this week. BYU’s four losses have come by a combined nine points this season, and the Cowboys have quality wins over Boise State and San Diego State. Pick: I’m going with BYU and I’m using 16 confidence points.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: The Vandals of Idaho were shellacked early in the season by Washington and Washington State, but the Vandals have gone 7-2 since with wins over bowl-eligible Louisiana-Lafayette and South Alabama (yes, Idaho plays in the Sun Belt). The Rams, on the other hand, have won their last five games, including a pair of convincing wins over New Mexico and San Diego State to close out the season. Pick: The Rams are playing as well as any G5 team right now and I’ll take them with 29 confidence points.

Bahamas Bowl: Old Dominion vs. Eastern Michigan - Eastern Michigan actually has a couple of nice wins (Wyoming, Ohio) this season, and they were one of the few teams to give Western Michigan a good game this year. Old Dominion closed out the CUSA season with five straight wins, but only one of those five came against a bowl-eligible team. Pick: I think eastern Michigan’s superior offense earns them a win, but I’m only using seven confidence points.

Armed Forces Bowl: Louisiana Tech vs. Navy - Louisiana Tech’s offense ranks 8th nationally, but the defense leaves much to be desired. Navy’s style of offense is going to keep Louisiana Tech’s offense off the field, and they should be able to control this one to an extent. Pick: I’m putting nine confidence points on Navy.

Dollar General Bowl: Ohio vs. Troy - The Trojans hovered around the edge of the Top 25 fairly regularly late in the season, and they always seem to have some good athletes. When also factoring in the home-field advantage in Mobile, this is a fairly easy pick. Pick: I’m putting 26 confidence points on Troy.

Hawai’i Bowl: Hawai’i vs. Middle Tennessee - The Rainbow Warriors are 104th in total defense, while the Blue Raiders are 9th in total offense per game. Hawai’i is also 87th in total offense per game, so I don’t see how I can go with them. Pick: I’m going with Middle Tennessee and I’m using 25 confidence points.
