Oklahoma Sooners Football: Jordan Thomas Will Return for Senior Season

The OU cornerback led the Big 12 in pass breakups

Oklahoma junior Jordan Thomas has announced his intention to return to the University of Oklahoma for his senior season. The All-Big 12 cornerback led the conference in pass breakups with 16 in 2016.

Thomas was far from perfect this season, but losing him to the NFL draft would’ve been disastrous for a secondary that badly needs to rebound in 2017. If Steven Parker decides to return, the OU secondary will remain relatively intact while also benefiting from an influx of freshman talent. Ahmad Thomas and Dakota Austin will have exhausted their eligibility after the Sugar Bowl, but I don’t think many Sooner fans will be losing much sleep over it.

As I said, Thomas wasn’t perfect in 2016, but he’s made a lot of big plays during his three years in Norman. He’s pretty good cornerback when he’s able to turn his head around!
