Oklahoma Sooners Football: Week 10 Viewing Guide (Plus Gambling Picks)

The Sooners should win in Ames, but will they cover the spread?

NCAA Football: Oklahoma at Texas Christian Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Well, Sooner fans, we usually post this a bit before the Thursday game, but since we’re actually playing today, this has a different feel to it.

OU will be down a number of players tonight, and no one is really sure what to expect of the Sooners this evening. Because of that, there is high potential for things to complain about. If you feel like venting your frustrations before, during or after the game, this is the place to do it!

Anyway, here are this week’s most notable games accompanied by some gambling advice.

Oklahoma (-20.5) at Iowa State - OU is without Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, the starting defensive line, and many, many more contributors from the beginning of the season. Couple that with the fact that Iowa State plays well at home on Thursday nights, and Sooner fans are voicing their concerns over this one. However, I think OU wins this one fairly comfortably by dominating up front on both sides of the ball. Sure, Iowa State will have some big plays on offense, but it won’t be enough to pull the upset. Gambling pick: Sooners barely cover by winning this one by a score of 45-24. Under 71.5.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State (-2.5) - This is a tough one to assess. OSU earned a great win over WVU in Stillwater last week, and the team answered some questions. However, the Mountaineers could have won the game if they had taken care of the football. Meanwhile, Kansas State keeps winning games, but they haven’t looked particularly impressive in the process. I think K-State slows down the pace of this one and pulls the upset at home. Gambling pick: Kansas State wins by by a field goal or touchdown and covers the spread. Under 58.5.

TCU at Baylor (-8) - Both teams suffered narrow defeats against far-from-perfect opponents last week. Look for Baylor to get back on the right track before heading to Norman next week. Gambling pick: Baylor covers, winning by two scores. Over 69.0.

Nebraska at Ohio State (-17) - Ohio State has looked like a shell of it’s former self as of late, but that could serve as motivation for this week. Last week, Huskers hung tough up in Madison when few (including myself) gave them a chance of winning, so I think we’re in for a close one. Tommy Armstrong’s heroics are going to keep the Huskers in this one, but it won’t be enough. Gambling pick: Nebraska beats the spread, but Ohio State wins the game by about 10. Over 52.0.

Alabama (-7.5) at LSU - The Tigers are playing great ball right now, and Leonard Fournette is back to being a monster. I’m really looking forward to watching Fournette against this Alabama defense, but I unfortunately believe he won’t have a ton of success. Alabama is going to flex its muscles once agin this week, and the dream of bringing in Coach Cookie Monster to replace Mike Stoops this offseason stays alive.
