Obviously, this infuriates me. There’s no doubt this is being done so that it doesn’t coincide with the SEC Championship Game (which kicks off at 3 CT), but it isn’t going to sit well with the fans. An early kickoff potentially means a boring crowd, even for a game of this magnitude. Will OU fans rise to the occasion, or will we hear a bunch of golf claps? I’m really not sure. This game is going to be HUGE, but never underestimate an OU crowd’s ability to fall flat when conditions aren’t perfect.
I think the crowd will be good, but it’s not going to be as good as it would’ve been with a 2:30 kickoff, which is what disappoints me. Sooner fans, it’s up to you to not be boring and lame in two weeks. This team needs you to bring your A-game. Don’t let the early kickoff serve as an excuse to not get hammered enough. Instead, use the magnitude of this game as an excuse to start getting hammered at 6 a.m. It’s what good fans do.
