It’s official! The Big 12 Championship Game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas — at least in the near future. Jerry World will be the site of the game from 2017-2021, and the game coverage will rotate between ESPN and FOX from year to year.

This obviously isn’t much of a shocker, but I was kind of hoping they would implement a rotation for this. Maybe a three-site rotation, which would include Arlington, Kansas City and San Antonio. Having it in KC would basically be throwing a bone to the northern schools (and I love the BBQ), and San Antonio is a good place to visit during the colder months.
Anyway, Jerry World is the most logical choice, and I’m fine with it. There’s ample tailgating space, the stadium is amazing and the food and drink options in certain areas of the stadium are top-notch. It’s also an extremely easy trip for OU fans, and the only fan base that would likely outnumber an OU crowd there would be Texas.
I’m guessing the contract with Jerry World will be extended beyond 2021 when the time comes. The league offices are in the area, and it just makes thinks easier. So get used to two trips per year to Dallas, Sooner fans!
