Walker suffered a concussion against TCU

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Oklahoma Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

According to Bob Stoops, Oklahoma defensive lineman Charles Walker will be out for Saturday’s game against Texas due to a concussion suffered against TCU.

Oklahoma just can’t catch a break with injuries this season. On Monday, it was announced that starting linebacker Tay Evans would have to call it a career after suffering too many concussions. Additionally, starting guard Cody Ford is out for the year after breaking his fibula against Ohio State. This is a huge loss for an already thin defensive line, as senior Matt Dimon is still recovering from an injury.

As you may recall, Walker missed the playoff game against Clemson last season due to a concussion suffered during practice, so let’s hope this doesn’t become a theme for Charles. We wish him the best in his recovery, and hopefully he can be back to face Kansas State next week.

On a brighter note, Bob announced that Mayfield and Alvarez both practiced today, so that definitely should lift your spirits.

That’s pretty much what was expected with Mayfield, but Alvarez’s return is key. He’ll be able to occupy one of the guard spots while Eric Wren mans the center position.
