According to a report from the Lawrence Journal-World, Oklahoma freshman defensive end Amani Bledsoe has been suspended to one year by the NCAA for the use of performance enhancing drugs. Bledsoe did not dress for Saturday night’s game, and now it looks like we know why.

If the report is indeed true, Bledsoe will not be able to dress until the eighth game of the 2017 season. The Lawrence native spurned the Jayhawks during the last recruiting cycle to come to Norman, and there were (and still are) high hopes for the four-star defensive end.

Bledsoe is a natural athlete with a lot of size and speed, and he doesn’t need to be using PEDs. Sometimes the temptation to gain an extra edge, however, is too much for a kid that age. I hope he uses better judgement in the future, because throwing your life away over that stuff is just stupid. I’d love to see him back on the field next season, because he definitely has the potential to dominate.
