- Jarvis Baxter is no longer listed on the depth chart at wide receiver, and walk-on Nick Basquine is now listed as a starter. Nick had some nice catches to move the chains on Saturday, and his hard work is definitely paying off.
- Michiah Quick is still listed as the started at the No. 2 corner spot, so it appears that OU will be riding it out with Quick for the foreseeable future. Honestly, I’m okay with this. Austin and Cobb have proven to be just as big of liabilities as Quick, and Quick was actually able to make a few nice plays on Saturday. OU needs some continuity at the position and should just let Quick develop and work through the growing pains.
- Emmanuel Beal is now listed at the starter at the position once occupied by Tay Evans, he got the start last week, and he’ll be our guy for the rest of the season.
- The Matt Dimon and Austin Roberts are both listed as potential starter at one of the DE spots. Roberts played pretty well against TCU in Dimon’s absence, and he’s clearly being rewarded.
- Eric Wren is listed as the starter at center, while Alvarez is listed as a possible starter (along with Ben Powers) at the left guard position. Alvarez is dealing with a injury and missed the TCU game, but it appears that Wren has laid claim to the center position even if Alvarez does come back this week.
Also of note is the fact that Austin Seibert has been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after having a rough go of things against Ohio State. It was great to see Austin bounce back this week as both a kicker and a punter, and we’ll need that to continue if OU is to have any hope of winning a league crown.
