Who’s ready to see a lot of offense and not a lot of defense on Lubbock tomorrow night? I’m not. That brand of football can hardly be considered football, but I guess we have to live with it this weekend. Anyway, I’m sure the lack of defense will make for some interesting discussion on the game thread, so make sure to head back here before, during and after the game and join in.
Here are the gambling picks for this week:
- Oklahoma (-14) at Texas Tech - This has all the makings of a dissatisfying OU victory. If OU controls the line of scrimmage (should be easy) and takes care of the ball (not as easy), they should come away with a W. This game, however, has a backdoor cover written all over it. Gambling pick: Sooners win, but Raiders cover with a 52-41 final score. Over 85.0.
- Texas (-1.5) at Kansas State - I’m kind of conflicted on this one. Texas looked great a week ago, but this matchup looks like it’ll be a close one. Is it ever smart to go against Bill Snyder in close games? Gambling pick: Kansas State wins straight up. Under 54.0.
- Texas A&M at Alabama (-19) - Texas A&M has a nice ballclub this year, and this is a big line, but has Bama given you any indication this year that they won’t cover in this one? Tennessee was probably a better team than A&M, and they were run out of their own building by Saban. Gambling pick: A&M hangs tough for a half, but Bama pulls away and covers in the second half. Over 61.0.
- TCU at West Virginia (-5.5) - This should be a fun one to watch. West Virginia’s defense was able to put the clamps down on Texas Tech last week, but TCU has some nice athletes on offense who will be well-rested for this one. Still, I think the Mountaineers’ dream season lives on, and they’ll have a shot to be in the top 10 after this week. Gambling: West Virginia covers, but not by much. Over 65.5.
- Arkansas at Auburn (-11) - Auburn is sneakily having a decent season, but gamblers should be licking their chops when seeing this line. Gambling pick: Arkansas beats the spread and will have a great chance to come away with a victory. Under 55.0.
- Ohio State (-19.5) at Penn State - Similar to the matchup in College Station, the big spread isn't deterring me in this one. Look for James Franklin to suffer an embarrassing defeat in Happy Valley. Gambling pick: Ohio State covers. Over 57.0.
