Oklahoma defensive lineman Charles Walker has addressed those who have speculated that has playing days at OU are finished.
Walker sustained a concussion against TCU and has not made an appearance on the field since. Additionally, he was not listed in Oklahoma’s depth chart this week. Walker was also held out of Oklahoma’s Orange Bowl game against Clemson with a concussion last season, and the series of events has led to plenty of speculation about Walker’s future at Oklahoma.
Walker has made it clear that he has not quit the team, but we still don’t know whether or not we’ll see him on the field any time soon. In his absence (as well as Matt Dimon’s), Austin Roberts and Neville Gallimore have played at a high level, but Oklahoma would definitely like to have him back for the stretch run. Is Oklahoma holding him out until that time as a precautionary measure, or have we truly seen the last of Walker’s playing days at Oklahoma? Charles is a fun player to watch, but his best interests need to be put first by the coaches and himself. We certainly wish him good health, and we hope to see him back soon!
