During the second half of the Orange Bowl, Samaje Perine tweaked an ankle forcing the star running back to the sideline. Clearly in pain, the sophomore would return later in the half after watching Joe Mixon suffer a head injury. Now, it appears as though Perine is set to have surgery this coming Monday according to News On 6 and Gloria Perine's Facebook profile. The surgery will repair torn ligaments in Perine's left ankle.
After bursting onto the collegiate football map a year ago, Perine followed up his freshman performance with an 1,000 yard season. Despite the offensive line struggles early on, the back collected 1,349 rushing yards on 226 carries along with 17 touchdowns. The effort on the field helped the Oklahoma Sooners to an 11-2 record while earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.
I know I'm not the only one thinking this so, here's to a full and speedy recovery!
