The dirty side of recruiting has reared its headed several times this year and we had the chance to see it take place once again today as 3-Star LB Riley Cole 6-3/220 tweeted out what the Crimson Tide were asking him to do earlier today.

A grayshirt is basically where a prospect 'walks on" for a semester and receives a scholarship in the spring semester. This would effectively allow a player like Cole to be counted against the Bama class of 2017.
So after Cole's tweet, we now see how quick recruiting can change as the Oklahoma Sooners have now offered Cole. The offer was confirmed by Andrew Bone of rivals.com with the following tweet.
Oneonta LB Riley Cole (@Rileyc44) informs me #Oklahoma extended him an offer tonight. He decommitted from #Alabama today. @JLMcCuistion

So the big question is what does this mean for the Sooners class of 2016, particularly at linebacker. First, I don't believe it says anything about the Sooners position with Caleb Kelly or Mark Jackson.
I believe it says more about the depth issues at LB currently and quite possible Maxs Tupai, because Cole is without a doubt a guy who will play middle linebacker
We will keep you updated if this changes.
