Oklahoma Sooners Baseball | Rudy Darrow Added To Coaching Staff

Rich DeCray

In his third year as the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, Pete Hughes announced the addition of Rudy Darrow to the coaching staff. Darrow takes over as the team's volunteer assistant where he is expected to fill the roles of first base coach and catching instructor.

"We've got a homegrown guy, who has Division I baseball experience and professional baseball experience," said Hughes of his staff's latest addition. "He has versatility. He can coach pitchers and catchers with his background. Even more than what his résumé and skillset brings to the table; we got an even better person and family man, which is any easy addition to our staff and everything that we represent." via SoonerSports

Darrow spent his career pitching in the Detroit Tigers farm system after being drafted in 2006. However, Darrow opted to return to his alma mater, Nicholls State, kicking off his collegiate coaching career. Now the coach labels the new chapter as a surreal opportunity as Darrow joins the program he once idolized.
