Robert Barnes is an incredibly talented athlete roaming the secondary for Texas High School powerhouse Southlake Carroll High School. Barnes who is a part of the class of 2017 checks in at 6-3/190 pounds and already has offers from Alabama, Baylor, Boston College, Duke, Iowa, Nebraska, OKState, Texas, and Texas Tech along with the Sooners. Barnes announced his college decision earlier today via twitter.

Many have speculated that if Barnes continues to add size that he could outgrow the safety position and star at linebacker. Regardless of where Barnes ends up, the Sooners have landed an incredibly talented player for the class of 2017. If the last name Barnes sounds familiar to Sooner fans it should. Robert is the son of former standout Sooner linebacker Reggie Barnes.
Barnes is the 2nd commit for the class of 2017, joining quarterback, Chris Robison.
