Throughout the press conference leading up to the game against the Oklahoma Sooners, head coach of the Akron Zips, Terry Bowden remained adamant about naming a starting quarterback on game day. "We kind of know what we're going to get with Kyle [Pohl]", a two-year starter, "that's good at times and bad at times" according to the head coach. "Tra'von Chapman you don't know quite what you're going to get. There's a real good upside and there are chances for mistakes for a guy that hasn't started at the D-1 level."
As far as the running backs go, Bowden said "I don't think we have one guy that's 'the' guy but Conor Hundley is the number one by far. He's been steady. He's been our best day-to-day player." With a solid rotation, expect the Zips to play four backs throughout the course of the season including a freshman. The group should get quite a bit of help with five seniors along the offensive line. They very well could be the strength of this offense.
The Zips and Sooners kick off on Saturday, September 5th at 6 PM CST.
