Against the a struggling Kansas Jayhawks offense, cornerback Zack Sanchez returned a short punt to the KU 35-yard line setting up the Samaje Perine and the Oklahoma Sooners offense. Snapping the ball three consecutive times, Cody Thomas turned shoving the pigskin into Perine's gut.
Unable to break the through the wall, the three rushing attempts amassed only eight total yards. Now staring down a 4th & 2 situation at the Kansas 27-yard line, the coaching staff decided to once again call Perine's number. Apparently, a fourth consecutive rushing attempt was exactly what the doctor ordered as the freshman phenom carried the ball 27 yards to the endzone for his fifth score of the evening.
(Fast forward to the 1:43 mark for the fifth and final touchdown for Perine)
The score pushed the Sooners to 41-7 over their opponent in Norman. Perine would go on to etch his name in the record books. Closing out the final half, the true freshman ended the night with 427 total yards, an NCAA record as OU downed the Jayhawks 44-7.
