The emergence of Allen Patrick in 2006 as Oklahoma's next great running back was an unlikely one. Adrian Peterson was the star running back to begin the season, but after a collarbone injury in October, Patrick became the starter after Peterson went down, and led the Sooners to a seven game winning streak and a Big 12 Championship.
No. 23 had just transferred from a small time college in Kansas where he was playing safety before moving to Oklahoma for the 2005 season. His three year career at Oklahoma saw him start 18 of the 36 games he played in.
He was also on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the 2007 season preview.
Patrick rushed for 1,936 yards and 14 touchdowns in his time at Oklahoma. He averaged nearly six yards a carry (5.8) his senior season and scored eight touchdowns en route to helping the Sooners win back to back Big 12 championships and a second consecutive BCS Bowl.
