A week after dropping their first game of the 2011 season the Sooners traveled to Manhattan to take on the 10th ranked, and undefeated, Kansas State Wildcats. After swapping blows on their way to a 23-17 halftime lead Oklahoma pulled away in he second half by outscoring KSU 35-0 over the final thirty minutes.
Roy Finch led OU in rushing with a touchdown and 73 yards on nine carries. He also added 69 more yards on seven receptions. Landry Jones passed for 505 yards and 5 touchdowns on a 35/47 performance with two interceptions. Ryan Broyles was exceptional, as he usually was, in catching 14 passes for 171 yards and a score.
Defensively the Sooners held Kansas State to just 58 yards through the air and 182 on the ground. Tony Jefferson, Corey Nelson, and Tom Wort led the defense with six tackles each and combined for five quarterback sacks. Eight Sooner defenders recorded at least one tackle for loss on the day.
